As I’m working for Interphase EDGE, a summer enrichment program for rising MIT freshmen sponsored by the Office of Minority Education, one of my jobs was to make the Student and Staff Picture book. This book has bios and headshots of all the students involved with the program. After having been entrusted with the task, I came to terms with the fact that I really had no illustrative skills as every picture book before me had some really fancy logo. So I decided to use my two favorite things instead: MIT and tilt shift. This is what I came up with.

Tumblr, I present to you three members of the Exposed Film Cult (EFC). The EFC was born out of the following concept:

Let’s take pictures with film. Literally.

And so, yeah. This was our little reunion shoot before we go back to respective institutions of higher learning. It was uncanny how as the shoot progressed, there seemed to be a rather funny interplay between the models. It felt like I was documenting an affair, an intermission from a commitment. So it was funny to see it play out to the point where we were like “Act as if she’s cheating with you!” It was fun.

So the last week before I went to college, I took my bartender-cousin to DC because he wanted to see the monuments and whatnot. I took these while battling with white balance in the harsh summer daylight and the shadows created by the monuments themselves.

So Jerbear and I walked into Boston today on a whim of mine. I brought my camera along just because I haven’t done so in what felt like ages. I like what I took, especially since he let me take his picture (which he’s very pleased with, mind you). I won’t upload that one—because that would be weird— but here are some fun things.

This is a shot from a New York sidewalk. It was kind of late, but I’m pleased that it still came out really well. A lot of people seem to really like it ;). It is part of my “Picture This” project, in which I interpreted the song “Vision One” by Röyksopp.
